Celebrating the Women Who Keep Our Communities Moving – 6th March 2026

Posted On: 06 Mar 2026

Ahead of International Women’s Day on Sunday 8 March 2026, Totally Local Company is proud to recognise and celebrate the women across our organisation who make a difference every day.

From office-based teams to operational roles and colleagues working out in the field across Stockport Borough and Greater Manchester, women across our business play an essential role in delivering the services our communities rely on.

From early starts and busy shifts to the behind-the-scenes planning that keeps everything running smoothly, their dedication, professionalism and teamwork are at the heart of what we do.

This year’s theme: ‘Give to Gain’

This year’s International Women’s Day theme, ‘Give to Gain’, encourages a mindset of generosity, collaboration and support. It’s something we see in action across our organisation every day.

Whether it’s supporting a colleague, sharing knowledge, stepping in during a busy period, or simply taking pride in a job well done, the women across our teams consistently demonstrate the power of giving — and how stronger teams and communities grow as a result.

Supporting services across our communities

Women work alongside their colleagues across a wide range of roles that help deliver our facilities management services, including:

  • Leadership and business support roles across Senior Management, Operations, SHEQ (Safety, Health, Environment and Quality), Human Resources, Finance, Communications, Continuous Improvement, Procurement and IT.
  • Streetcare teams helping keep our streets clean, safe and welcoming.
  • Greenspaces, Parks and Playgrounds teams caring for outdoor spaces our communities enjoy.
  • Civil Engineering teams supporting highways and street lighting maintenance to keep roads and traffic moving safely.
  • Commercial Cleaning teams maintaining safe, hygienic and welcoming environments for businesses and education providers.
  • School Meals teams preparing and serving nutritious meals for children across local schools.
  • Fleet Services teams ensuring vehicles are serviced, maintained and ready to support frontline services.
  • Recycling, Refuse and Trade Waste teams providing essential waste collection and recycling services for residents and businesses across Stockport Borough and Greater Manchester.

Recognising the everyday impact

Facilities management is not always the most visible work – until something doesn’t get done. That’s why today we want to recognise the work that happens quietly, reliably and consistently behind the scenes.

The impact of our teams is felt every day in the places where people live, learn, work and spend time with their families.

And the women of Totally Local Company are a vital part of that story.

Thank you.

Today, and every day, we thank the women across our organisation for the work they do, the standards they uphold, and the support they give to their colleagues and the communities we serve.
