Totally Local Company is proud to have been a key player in essential works completed on the Greek Street Bridge Replacement and Transformation Project in Stockport town centre.

Major infrastructure project work began on Greek Street in March 2025 to construct a 350m³ concrete bridge deck over the West Coast Main Line trainline, and has been delivered through sustained collaboration, careful planning, and the dedication of multiple project partners working together over the past year.

Our Street Lighting team have played a critical role from the outset, undertaking the removal of all lighting columns, island bollards, and signage at the Greek Street roundabout to support the work needed on the replacement of the railway bridge.

Following completion of the main construction works, our teams returned to site over the past three weeks to reinstate and enhance the infrastructure.

The final phase of works included:

  • Installation of new lighting columns, including one additional column.
  • Installation of over 500 metres of new cabling.
  • Delivery of four new ICP connections.
  • Installation of new island bollards and Belisha Beacons, including eight additional beacons to support new crossing points.
  • Installation of new sign poles and reinstatement of existing salvaged signage.
  • Provision of power to a new CCTV camera.
  • Installation of new feeder pillars to support future maintenance

Throughout the project, two crews were deployed on site at any one time, working in full compliance with Network Rail health and safety requirements, including the use of orange PPE.

This achievement reflects the commitment, professionalism, and teamwork demonstrated by everyone involved.

Special thanks go to our on-site team members: Darren Collins, Thomas Smith, Lee Routledge, Dean Brierley, Stephen Yuille, and Dave Finnigan.

We also extend our appreciation to the Murphy Group Operations team for their collaborative approach. During the work, our teams have been commended for their efficiency, high standard of site management, and strong partnership working.

The successful delivery of this project highlights Totally Local Company’s ongoing commitment to quality, safety, and teamwork in delivering vital infrastructure improvements for the community.
