Lights, Camera, Action! – A Shout Out to Our Street Lighting Team
Our Street Lighting colleagues have been busy once again behind the scenes, supporting major film and television productions taking place in and around Stockport.
Their specialist knowledge and practical support help production teams achieve the right lighting conditions for filming, while ensuring our local communities continue to receive the support they need.
Supporting the production of the forthcoming Debenhams Christmas Advert
Night-time filming recently took place around the Community Centre on Hereford Road, Brinnington, as part of the Debenhams Christmas Advert.
Our very own Street Lighting Electrician, Darren Collins, was on site to assist with switching the street lights on and off, helping the production team achieve the appropriate lighting levels for filming.
BBC’s Hercule Comes to Stockport
Our Street Lighting Team have also been supporting filming for the BBC’s upcoming six-part drama series, Hercule.
The series follows a young Hercule Poirot as he begins his career in London, with filming taking place across the North West, including locations in and around Stockport, such as the area near the Plaza.
Our Street Lighting Crews were on site to switch on and off the street lights where required, helping to create lighting conditions that were suitable for filming and consistent with the period in which the drama is set.
Filming continued into the early hours, with Street Lighting Electrician Matt Munro providing on-site support.
Filming for Hercule is taking place across the North West of England, including Liverpool and locations throughout Greater Manchester, such as Stockport, during the summer and into the autumn 2026.
A Big Thank You
A huge thank you to Darren, Matt and the wider Street Lighting Team for their continued hard work and support in our communities.
It’s fantastic to see the expertise and flexibility of our colleagues helping to support high-profile productions right here in our local area – often working behind the scenes and through the night to make it happen.
