Lights, Camera, Action! Our Street Lighting Team Supports Batman’s Gotham Filming in Stockport
Stockport’s streets were once again in the spotlight this month as filming for the upcoming Batman’s Gotham superhero movie took place at the iconic Stockport Plaza, in Merseyway Square.
Our Street Lighting Team played a key role in supporting the production, working closely with the film crew to create the perfect lighting for several night-time scenes. The team carefully switched streetlights on and off to match the desired atmosphere and even adjusted the Plaza’s globe lighting to reflect the film’s setting.
A huge thanks to our Street Lighting team colleagues, Darren Collins, Mike Lockett, Dave Brown, Lee Routledge, and Dean Brierley for their dedication — from their overnight technical support on set, to removing and reassembling street furniture, signpoles, and bike racks to allow a red carpet to be fitted, to restoring Stockport’s lighting the next morning.
Stockport continues to be a popular filming location, with its unique mix of historic streets and stunning backdrops featuring in Peaky Blinders, The Stranger, and The House of Guinness (2024).
Well done and thank you to our Street Lighting team. Their expertise helps keep productions running smoothly while showcasing our town at its very best.
