Totally Local Company Achieves ProVeg Bronze

We are excited to share that Totally Local Company has been awarded the ProVeg Bronze Accreditation.

The ProVeg Bronze Accreditation is the entry-level recognition within the ProVeg School Plates Awards scheme, a UK-based initiative that acknowledges school caterers for making evidence-based improvements to their menus.

As proud partners of ProVeg and their national School Plates Programme, this award demonstrates our commitment to making small but meaningful changes that help children eat well and support the planet.

To achieve this bronze award, caterers must introduce rebalanced menus, implement subtle changes to promote plant-rich foods, such as a designated plant-rich day, and use gentle techniques to encourage students to choose more plant-based meals.

Our Bronze Award recognises how we have taken the ProVeg challenge and have introduced subtle changes to our menus including:

More Plant-Rich Options:

• The introduction of more plant-rich options, to our menus – and introducing one day per week focused on plant-based dishes.

Subtle Nudges:

• Using subtle behavioural change techniques and “nudges” to influence food choices to young people in a positive way.

Plant Promotion:

• Actively promoting the uptake of plant-rich meals among students.

ProVeg is very supportive to participants in the School Plates Programme. They offer free support to caterers to help them make the required changes, including menu consultation, recipe advice, and impact assessments.

The ProVeg Bronze award is part of a wider program that includes silver and gold levels, supporting caterers to make continuous, evidence-based improvements to their menus.

As a trusted catering provider to the Education Sector, our menu changes will benefit not only the health and wellbeing of the children we serve but also support our wider sustainability goals and help protect the environment.
