Solutions SK are delighted that over the first weekend of March, dozens of groups turned out to clean up the Borough in support of the national Great British Spring Clean campaign.

A total of 400 litter bags were distributed and 1.28 tonnes of rubbish were collected by Solutions SK, the Council’s street cleansing contractor, on Monday 6th March from various locations across the Borough.

Altogether, across the UK up to half a million people have been out and about clearing up the places they love as part of a wider campaign to rid the country of litter.

Councillor Sheila Bailey, Stockport Council’s Executive Member for Communities and Housing, said:

I’d like to thank all of our local Litter Heroes who volunteered a few hours to get outdoors and pick up some of the litter that surrounds us and blights the areas where we live. Also, thank you to Solutions SK and the Council’s street cleansing team who coordinated the operational side of the campaign and made sure all the litter bags were collected.

Stephen Morris, Managing Director at Solutions SK, said:

We all at Solutions SK have been delighted to support Stockport’s Great British Spring Clean. It’s been a participative event which has helped unite the community in which we work, live and play. Bringing together people from all over our Stockport communities and making us proud of our cleaner town.

Residents are being encouraged to carry on the good work with Council support.
